 | 09/09/2025 Meals as Medicines: Addressing Undernutrition to End TB Discussant: Pranay Sinha, MD, SM Dr. Pranay Sinha is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and an Infectious Diseases physician at Boston Medical Center.
His scholarly and clinical work focuses on tuberculosis and infectious diseases, particularly how undernutrition exacerbates TB outcomes among vulnerable populations. Dr. Sinha conducts epidemiologic and health economic research across India, Benin, and Togo, advocating strongly for integrating social determinants. His work emphasizes cost-effective nutritional interventions that could drastically improve health outcomes in resource-constrained settings.
Dr. Sinha co-founded and co-chairs the TB-Undernutrition Working Group at the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, actively influencing policy at the United Nations and World Health Organization to strengthen nutritional support for TB-affected populations. He has also worked directly with the Indian government to expand nutritional support and anti-helminthic treatment for persons with tuberculosis.
Clinically, Dr. Sinha is active as an infectious diseases physician at Boston Medical Center, a safety net hospital in Boston. He helps to train medical students, residents, and fellows and has mentored more than thirty trainees.
